York Dukes Food Drive

 

On October 16th, the York Dukes held a food drive at their football game against Hinsdale Central.  The team collected more than 1800 pounds of food and $1676.  The collections were put in a truck and sent to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Empire Beauty Schools’ National Day of Beauty

Over the weekend three Empire Beauty School salons celebrated National Beauty Day with $5 haircuts for charity. 

All of the day’s proceeds were donated to Family Shelter Services in Hanover Park and the WINGS Shelter in Palatine.

9th Annual It’s Raining Cats & Dogs

More than 300 people showed up to support The Anti-Cruelty Society’s at their 9th annual “It’s Raining Cats & Dogs” benefit. 

The Anti-Cruelty Society is celebrating 110 years of preventing cruelty to abandoned and neglected animals and advancing humane education.

Make a Difference Day

The Lemont Junior Woman’s Club joined millions of people across America in celebrating Make a Difference Day.  The day is the nation’s largest community service effort. 

The club spent the day working on their 4th annual Baskets of Basics project. 
These baskets will provide basic household goods to Lemont families in need.

5th Annual Pancake Breakfast & Blood Drive

VFW Post 2604 and Orland Park Boy Scout Troop 318 teamed up to host their 5th Annual Pancake Breakfast & Blood Drive.  The vets and scouts served up pancakes to more than 330 people.  Over 30 pints of blood were collected at the blood drive.

Funds raised will go to the Manteno Veteran’s Home, helping homeless vets, and helping the boy scouts with camp and equipment funds.
